I love getting lost on the streets and just shooting whatever takes my fancy. I lose myself in ‘the zone’ – I’m caught up in my own thoughts, intensely studying the light, the crowd and environment. My mind is whirring with calculations working out the best DoF and geometry to make an interesting shot. I don’t feel like part of the crowd, but more of an invisible observer. Just an almost silent Leica Kiss of the shutter and I’m gone again.
However, photography does not have to be a solitary hobby, its also great to shoot with likeminded photogs – bouncing ideas and seeing how they approach their subjects. Today, I was really fortunate to spend a few hours with @Palaeoboy on the streets around Covent Garden. Palaeo was armed with an Oly Om1 and 24mm while I used my trusty M3 and 21mm / Standard and Elmar kit. We have a similar approach to street photography, we both unobtrusively blended in, got up close, captured and slip away. Today was a good shoot.
I’ve more films to develop from our little shoot, but if this first batch is anything to go by – I should have some real gems to look forward to later on this week. Photos shot on Fomapan 400 and souped in Fomadon.
